2026-01-23

In response to the call from the Ordos municipal government to promote the translation and implementation of Peking University's scientific and technological achievements in Ordos, and leveraging the University's profound research heritage along with its own industrial capabilities, Peking University Pioneer Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “PKU Pioneer”) was invited as a core technology provider to attend the Peking University Scientific Achievement-Ordos Enterprise Matchmaking Conference. The conference was held on December 12, 2025, at the Peking University Ordos Energy Research Institute.

Coordinated by Academician Jin Zhijun and jointly organized by the Institute and Peking University's Department of Science and Technology Development, with full support from the Ordos Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the event focused on the core needs of local enterprises, establishing an efficient bridge for precise industry-technology alignment.

The conference brought together representatives from industry, academia, research, and end-users. The Peking University Molecular Engineering Suzhou Research Institute and PKU Pioneer served as technology providers, while leading local enterprises including Huineng Holding Group and Inner Mongolia Hengsheng Environmental Protection Technology Engineering Co., Ltd. participated as representatives from the demand side. Attendees included Wang Suohao, Third-Level Researcher from the Ordos Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Zhang Lei, Vice President of the Research Institute. The meeting was chaired by Li Xiang, Vice President of the Institute.

As a benchmark enterprise in China's Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) gas separation sector, PKU Pioneer's Marketing Director, Ding Quanhe, delivered an in-depth presentation on two core technologies. Grounded in solid R&D expertise and extensive industrial application experience, the presentation became a focal point of the technical exchange. The first technology highlighted was for high-efficiency carbon monoxide separation and comprehensive utilization of industrial off-gases. Utilizing PKU Pioneer's self-developed copper-loaded adsorbent (PU-1), it can extract carbon monoxide with purities ranging from 95% to 99.9% from various industrial off-gases such as water gas and blast furnace gas. This award-winning technology (National Technology Invention Award, Second Class) has been deployed in over 50 large and medium-scale engineering installations, achieving widespread application in industries like steel and chemicals, and can effectively address local Ordos enterprises' challenges in off-gas resource utilization.

The concurrently presented PSA hydrogen production technology features core advantages including strong feed gas adaptability, high product purity (99% to 99.999%), and a high degree of automation. Capable of processing various gas sources like coke oven gas and methanol purge gas, it provides a stable and efficient hydrogen production solution for the upstream hydrogen energy industry chain, aligning with Ordos's development goals for green industrial upgrading. Ding Quanhe provided detailed explanations on the R&D background, core processes, application scenarios, and industrial value of both technologies. By sharing the company's practical experience in steel-chemical co-production projects, he clearly demonstrated the post-operation advantages in terms of energy savings, consumption reduction, and economic benefits.

Following the presentation, enterprise representatives, including Wang Zhanfeng, Head of the Strategic Investment Collaboration Department at Huineng Holding Group, and Wang Zhe, R&D Center Manager at Inner Mongolia Hengsheng Environmental Protection Technology Engineering Co., Ltd., engaged in discussions with the PKU Pioneer team. They explored key practical issues such as technology implementation feasibility, expansion into localized application scenarios, and economic benefit assessments, laying a groundwork for subsequent technology transfer and project implementation.

PKU Pioneer originated from the adsorbent R&D team led by Professor Xie Youchang at Peking University. Over three decades, the company has dedicated itself to the PSA technology field, successfully breaking foreign monopolies and achieving the localization and industrialization of core technologies like oxygen generation and carbon monoxide separation. Its participation in this conference embodies the company's commitment to the principle of "Serving the Nation through Science and Technology, Revitalizing Industry through Innovation," and represents a significant practice in deepening the integration of academic research with regional industrial needs. PKU Pioneer will fully leverage its comprehensive strengths in adsorbent R&D, complete equipment manufacturing, and technical services, closely collaborating with partner enterprises to inject momentum into the high-quality development of the regional industrial economy.
